A pleasant start to the New Year with TMI Trader Portfolio 2 increasing 4.1%. After the travails of the last two years there are signs a major rally is on the horizon. While the Bank of England has pushed back on early rate cuts (and three of the nine rate setters bizarrely voted to keep hiking last time), markets are forecasting 5-6 downward moves this year. Stocks in sectors sensitive to the cost of borrowing like house builders, brick manufacturers, property developers and related service companies (kitchens, flooring, lighting, estate agents) are all areas that could whip-saw upward while it’s a truism that investors often under-estimate the relief rally when an up-turn is in sight.
