The New Year started brightly for the TMI Trader Portfolio, up 2.7% to a new high of £326,050. This performance was remarkable given the recent setbacks to our three energy stocks, victims of the bizarre heat wave affecting the key heating oil market in North-Eastern United States. With the mild weather predicted to last till March, we have generally acted quickly to realise gains, selling 1,000 Burren at 787p, 500 Dana at 1110p and 1,000 Venture at 765p, while also introducing new stop-losses for the residual holdings at 5% below today’s prices.
