Donald Trump’s US$2.6bn windfall from his stake in Trump Social, whose market cap of US$4.4bn is an incredible 1,100x last year’s sales, comes in the nick of time to plug his numerous legal challenges and reminds me of Charles Dickens’ Mr Micawber who hoped something would turn up to cover his own budget deficit, “Annual income £20, annual expenditure £19.06, result happiness.” During the market’s dark moments investors will have similarly prayed for a change in fortunes and there are signs something is moving with TP2 having gained 15.7% since January (and a terrific 5.2% over the month).
