With investors distracted by the World Cup and a hot summer, the FTSE 100 and All Share indices drifted 1% in thin trading volumes, while the TMI Trader Portfolio was unchanged. In spite of the summer torpor there were some upbeat developments, with Numis upgrading Cape's earnings forecasts 5% for this year and next (to 39p and 42.9p respectively) following strong trading and the Australian Government’s withdrawal of a mining super tax. Elsewhere, West China announced that the Hong Kong listing committee is considering its application, which will now occur no later than 20 October.
