Another month has brought another all-time high for the TMI Trader Portfolio, which nudged ahead by £1,384 (0.4%) to £317,597, at a time when the main indices treaded water. There were good performances from Connaught and Aquarius Platinum but the best gain came from Carter & Carter, which has now surged nearly £3.50 since we added them in October, with the latest catalyst being the earnings enhancing acquisition of three vocational learning businesses. Elsewhere, we have taken some profit at Chemring (selling 400 at 1545p), which is likely to pause after a good run and Synergy Healthcare (1,000 at 655p) because of its pricey valuation and questionable strategic benefits behind its bid for Isotron.
