It was a better month for the TMI Trader Portfolio, which inched ahead 2.1% to almost £293,000, outperforming  the FTSE-100, which fell 1.6% and the All-Share, which declined  1.2%. Pleasingly, three of our constituents posted forecast beating updates, with the most dramatic being Hargreaves, forcing Brewin Dolphin to upgrade pretax profit forecasts by 14% and 12% respectively for this year and next. Others beating forecasts include Kentz, whose order backlog has also soared by two thirds and Charter, which has made strong progress on cost cutting.While the gloomsters are dining out on the huge losses by the error-prone HBOS, there are some positive signs around.
