This time last year we highlighted respected stock picker Anthony Bolton's predictions of a strong rally in the first quarter, with banks, commercial property, retailers and consumer cyclicals leading the way. It was a pretty good forecast but he had been saying the same thing six months earlier and somewhat prematurely. On balance, perhaps we should have deployed our huge cash pile and the kitchen sink into such areas but we can't really grumble as the TMI Trader Portfolio still rose 16% to almost £332k, compared with the FTSE 100 and All Share indices, which were up 21.5% and 24% respectively.
