In spite of falls in the gold price, which has depressed the shares, pawnbroker H&T, still produced results that were in line. These showed a 27% reduction in pretax profit to £17m, while eps fell 30% to 33.9p. However, strong cash flow meant that in spite of £11m invested in new stores and the pledge book net debt still fell 6% to £27.6m. The pawn broking side saw a 6% rise in gross profit to £28.4m, thanks to an 11% increase in the pledge book to £51.6m, which was boosted by opening 26 stores, taking the total to 186.
