Sentiment towards pawnbroker H&T has improved, in part thanks to a rally in gold prices from US$1195 to US$1328 / oz (higher prices increase the borrowing (or pawning) potential of people’s gold rings by raising their value). But the company also noted that following a strong Q4, it expects full year pretax profit to be in line with expectations.The key moving parts all showed good growth; within pawnbroking (its largest division) its pledge book increased 8% due to increased customer numbers and increased loans on quality watches.Elsewhere, Personal Loans grew 35% due to expansion of its new longer term, lower interest rate loan product.
