H&T has announced the acquisition of 113 pledge books from rival Albemarle & Bond for £8m. The deal, which brings in 35,000 customers, represents just one times its book value and will be financed through cash and existing bank facilities.Management have also said trading is going well and ahead of the board’s expectations reflecting the strength of the core pawnbroking and retail business, alongside the successful integration of The Money Shop (TMS) assets and the rising gold price.In response Numis has upgraded pretax profit forecasts c.12% and 22%, respectively, to £19m (eps: 39.8p) and £23m (46.8p).
