Pawnbroker H&T cheered investors by noting full year pretax profit is now expected to be above the top end of market expectations. The principal reason is that the rising sterling gold price (it’s averaged over £1,000 / oz in the past three months vs Numis’ forecasts for £850) has benefited its pawnbroking scrap and gold purchasing segments.Meanwhile its lending activities have also made progress with the pledge book increasing to £40.5m as at 30 October (30th June 2016: £39m) while the personal loans book rose to £8.2m (30th June ’16: £6.3m).Numis has raised pretax profit forecast for 2016 from £8.7m to £9.5m (eps: 20.9p) with the year starting next Januar ...
