Pawnbroker H&T put out another strong update covering the four months to 30 April with its pledge (loan) book rising 6% year to date to £106.5m. Shore Capital’s full year growth forecast is for 17% and the broker says there may be upside potential if redemptions normalise and demand remains strong. Within  retail jewellery demand for second hand goods remains strong and Shore has upgraded sales growth forecasts to 13% (from 10%), albeit offset by a reduction in the gross margin forecast from 40% to 35%, reflecting higher discounting of higher value watch brands to clear inventory.
