Pawnbroker H&T continues to benefit from the cost of living squeeze with the six months ended 30 June showing its pledge book rising 33% year-on-year to £113m and it’s already close to broker Shore Capital’s full-year target of £118m. The elevated levels of redemption it experienced late April and early May have eased with strong pledge book growth through the rest of May and into June. In Retail, sales rose 10% with good progress in online originated business. Although retail margins saw some compression this was broadly offset by greater scraping volumes (thanks to high gold prices).
