In a period that had been impacted by the pandemic, pawnbroker H&T has published in line finals with pretax profit before exceptionals down 36% to £10m for eps of 20.8p. A provision of £2.1m for cost of redress associated with high cost short term (HCST) loans reduced profit to £7.9m (eps: 15.4p).As previously flagged, H&T’s pawnbroking pledge book grew 39% to £67m and has since increased further with Shore Capital expecting it to return to pre-pandemic peak of £73m before the end of Q1.
