The shares are closing in on £20 after Hill & Smith announced record results, beating expectations despite five upgrades throughout the year. Revenues rose 13% to £830m and with EBIT margins rising 1.5% to 14.8% (beating Numis 14.3% forecast) profit increased 26% to £122.5m (Numis: £119m) for eps up 23% at 105.4p. The US now accounts for three quarters of profit driven by President Biden’s infrastructure investment while by division, Engineered Solutions was the standout with sales up 15% (20% growth in US) and profit +69% to £64m, driven by robust demand for composite solutions and US electrical transmission & distribution structural steel products.
