In the face of choppy markets, shares in last month’s main write-up, Hill & Smith, have surged to a new high of 342p after it unveiled an earnings enhancing acquisition and creditable full year results. For the year ended 31 December, pretax profit increased 9% to £17.3m on turnover up 105% to £306m. Underlying earnings before reorganisation and property items rose nearly 16% to 20.7p. Infrastructure Products was again the key driver, growing profit by 7% to £13.1m, driven by sales of its wire rope and crash barrier products.
