Hill & Smith posted strong finals, around 4% ahead of forecast. On revenues that rose 5% to £585m, pretax profit increased 12% to £78.5m while eps rose 15% to 74p. The “beat” - its fourth in four years - reflected better than expected operating margins of 13.8%, while a 14% increase in the dividend to 30p was its fifteenth successive increase!The big driver was the Infrastructure Roads division, which increased underlying profit by 20% to £23.6m (margins up from 11.7% to 12.6%).
