The shares are holding up better than most after revenues increased 12% in H1, on a constant currency basis (forecasts were for just + 7%) and EBITA margins improved by 50bps to 12.5%. Galvanizing services was the stand-out performer, with revenues up 17% and margin up 90bps to 25.3%, reflecting successful price pass-through actions and focus on higher margin customers. Engineered Solutions (formerly Utilities) also performed strongly with sales up 21% in H1, including 30% growth in the UK but, as previously flagged, the less favourable mix in the US composite business reduced overall margin by 70bps YoY at 10.3%.
