A fascinating report by broker Panmure Gordon notes how politicians and the IMF are finally coming round to the view that after numerous doses of monetary stimulus (i.e. QE), increased public infrastructure spend is one of the few remaining policy levers available to support output growth. A key beneficiary of this investment is likely to be Hill & Smith, which makes infrastructure products such as crash barriers and lighting columns for major road networks and also runs a highly profitable galvanising business, which is the process of applying a protective coating to steel to prevent rusting.
