Telecom Plus, which provides utility services, including gas, electricity, home phone, mobile, broadband and home insurance, produced half year results ahead of expectations with pretax profits rising 6% to £27.5m on sales up 13.6% at £53m.The strategy has always been to not be the cheapest but rather offer value for money for those taking a bundle of services who are also more likely to stay loyal. Therefore the reduction in the energy price cap from 1st October 2019 should help as it has reduced the differential between standard variable tariff and the cheapest promotional price from over £300 p.a. to c.£180 p.a., reducing the incentive for rivals to under-cut Telecom Plus only to jack up prices for custom ...
