Encouraging news from the Competition Commission, which has cleared Topps to proceed with its acquisition of CTD with the only condition that it disposes of four of the 30 CTD outlets. Earlier, Topps’ Q2 update highlighted a sequential recovery with underlying sales growth of 4.4% in Q2; January started slowly but volumes built through February and March with the exit rate generating high single-digit growth, which Peel Hunt puts down to market share gains. For the first half as a whole group sales rose 4% to £127.7m with trade sales up over 12%.
