Shares in specialist out-of-town tile retailer Topps Tiles have more than doubled since we made them a speculative buy in our March issue at 21p. Rumours of a bid from Carpetright have partly driven this while its inherent good value plus the early signs of a thawing in the housing market have also attracted buying interest. Interestingly, even a fairly uninspiring trading update failed to dent the upward momentum.
