Topps said trading has remained good with like-for-like sales up 21% on a two-year basis for the first 13 weeks or 1% higher year-on-year reflecting strong comparatives last time. Topps has taken significant steps to mitigate or pass through higher shipping and general inflation costs but gross margin is still expected to fall. Liberum forecasts a decline of 1%, leading to an 8% reduction in pretax profit to £13.8m in FY’22 for new eps of 5.6p, rising to 5.9p in ’23. Nevertheless with c. £30m net cash and consumer demand expected to recover as Omicron infection rates fall, the shares remain cheap on a prospective PE of 11.4. I am holding on. ...
