The rising national living wage, higher business rates and increased raw material costs are making life hard for The Restaurant Group, best known for its Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito casual dining chains, and that’s before the unforced error when it took away customers’ favourite items off its menus.While its interims slightly missed forecasts, with like-for-like sales falling 2.2% and pretax profit reducing from £36.6m to £25.5m, there were signs of strategic progress.
