Contrary to fears that UK leisure spending has imploded Restaurant Group, owner of the Garfunkels and Frankie & Benny's chains, has announced trading for the year to 1 January 2012 in line with expectations. Revenues rose 7.25%, with the like-for-like element 3.25% and November and December were particularly strong.New openings were ahead of the previous year with 25 in 2011 and trading has been ahead of expectations. The group is targeting 25-30 openings in 2012. Restaurant Group is still highly cash generative and net debt at the year-end was below the previous year.
