Defence support services firm Babcock has announced a major acquisition, followed by a trading update. The £38m acquisition, net of cash balances, of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), has positioned Babcock strongly to benefit from forthcoming UK civil nuclear decommissioning work and complements Babcock's strong existing position in the military nuclear market. In the financial year to 31 March, the UKAEA generated revenue of £32m. Separately, Babcock has also released a pre-close trading update prior to entering its close period.
