Babcock’s post close update pleasingly said it expects group cash flow to be significantly ahead of expectations reflecting strong operational performance and concluding the disposal program including additional €100m proceeds of completion adjustments related to the sale of its European Aerial Emergency Services businesses. As a result net debt will now be c. £350m (before leases), a huge improvement over the £556m as at FY’22 and £770m back in ‘21. The only disappointment was a provision of £50m-£100m for a potentially loss-making contract, which relates to the construction of  five new Type 31 frigates for the MoD.
