Engineering and defence services firm Babcock has announced the acquisition of Weir Strachan and Henshaw (S&H) from Weir Group, 941p, for £65m. S&H is a leading specialist engineering design, project manager and through-life support provider for the defence and nuclear industries with locations in the UK, Australia, Canada and the USA. In the year ended 31 December, it generated revenues of nearly £52m. Major customers include the Atomic Weapons Establishment and British Energy and it also supplies weapon launch systems for all of the UK's submarines as well as those operated by Australia and Spain.
