Marstons’ update for the 16 weeks to 23 January was ahead of analysts’ expectations with like-for-like sales in its Destination & Premium division rising 3% (outperforming the benchmark Coffer Peach business tracker, which showed just 1% growth). Food sales rose 2.5% and wet sales 3.4%. Operating margins are “ahead of last year.”In Taverns, managed and franchise pub like-for-like sales grew 2.7% with the highest turnover franchise pub achieving over £30,000 / week in the two-week Christmas holiday period.
