Although shares in Marstons have suffered from continued pessimism surrounding the pub industry, its IMS for the 15 weeks to 17 January was fairly resilient. Marstons Inns & Taverns, its managed pubs division, saw like-for-like sales fall 2.9% below last year, with trading over Christmas and New Year week showing a slight improvement compared to previous trends although January was quite subdued as expected.In Marston's Pub Company, its tenanted and leased division, like-for-like profit was 6% below last year with it providing significant commercial and financial support (such as added discounts on supply of beer and rent alleviation).
