Printing promotional stationery, mugs and t-shirts might look an odd growth share investment. When we made 4Imprint, the largest supplier of such items in the US, a New Year Nap for 2012 we hadn't anticipated that the company would just three months later announce the disposal of its UK side, at a stroke cutting group profits by a third and seemingly without anything to replace the void. But when we vigorously put this to chairman John Poulter at the company's full year results presentation on 7 March, he pointed out that the disposed subsidiary had historically been reliant on a handful of customers for a significant amount of its business, the loss of which could so easily severely dent future profits.
