Marstons - Hot weather boosts demand

The hot weather has helped Marstons froth up to a new high of 165p. Also helping was a solid update for the 42 weeks to 20 July, which showed sales at its Destination & premium pubs growing 2.1% year on year while sales in the past ten weeks grew a handsome 6%. 16 new build pubs opened in the period. Performance in its Taverns community pubs and leased pubs were in line with last year, the latter having benefited from the Euro 2012 championships. Marstons has raised £35m selling non-core pubs and expects £50m for the year. Tipped last July at 95p the share have gained 64% but with the prospective PE still just 12 we would hold on. ...
