When the pandemic arrived early last year it looked terminal for pub companies and shares in heavily indebted Marstons lurched to a low of 22p. However, Government support and the sale of a majority stake in in its Brewing division has provided breathing space and there’s an exciting case for recovery on the back of the grand re-opening of the sector on July 19th,  alongside England’s fine run in Euro 2020, the prospect of improved summer weather and industry-wide reductions in capacity as weaker rivals retire hurt.The company started out as a small West Midlands pub operator until a string of acquisitions gave it national coverage.
