Essentra, which recently changed its name from Filtrona, has powered ahead to a new high of 839p, a pleasant 274p ahead of our recommendation price.The latest surge from this maker of plastic, fibre and foam components reflects forecast beating results for the six months to 30 June, in which revenues, pretax profit and eps rose 18%, 25% and 21% respectively. Adjusted operating margins increased 0.5% to 17%, while net debt rose from £164m to £212m reflecting recent acquisitions and higher dividend payments. In Component & Protection, which supplies plastic and metal components, such as plugs, threads, fasteners and cable ties, operating profit rose 15% to £28.5m.
