Shares in Essentra, which makes small but essential components from plastic, fibre and foam, have soared from our 556p buy tip in February ’13 to the current 845p. Interims showed revenues, pretax profit and eps growing 20%, 16% and 15% to £431m, £64.2m and 20.3p respectively and should galvanise further advances. Components & protection solutions, which supplies plastic and metal components such as plugs, threads, fasteners and cable ties, increased operating profit 14% to £32.5m thanks to better trading in Europe and integration of five businesses to a single brand.
