The shares spiked over £18 at one point as investors cheered the positive effects of lower oil prices and Easyjet’s upbeat statement covering the quarter to 31 December. This noted a 3.7% increase in sales to £931m, reflecting a 4.1% rise in passenger numbers to 14.9m, which was attributed to disciplined allocation of capital across the network and growth in business passenger revenue.As we flagged up in our article in February there are serious potential savings if oil stays low and Easyjet noted that at current exchange rates and with jet fuel remaining in a US$550-US$750 / tonne trading range, its fuel bill would decrease by £30-£35m in H1 ’15 and by £90m-£130m in full year 2015. ...
