Low cost airline Easyjet is ensconced in a war of wars with its founder and largest shareholder about how to survive the COVID-19 grounding of its fleet. Stelios wants it to cancel all future orders for new planes from Airbus, which Easyjet is resisting (presumably because of the financial penalties). But management have at least reached an agreement with Airbus to defer 24 aircraft in the financial years 2020 (10); 2021 (12) and 2022 (2). As a result, in FY’21 Easyjet will take no deliveries while retaining the option to defer another 5 in FY’22.
