Shares in Easyjet, last month’s write-up and a TMI 2024 NAP, moved to new highs after an upbeat first quarter update for the period ended 31 December. The seasonally weaker Q1 registered a reduced loss of £126m (Q1 ‘23: £133m loss), with passenger numbers rising 14%. While the Middle East crisis caused a £40m impact from fewer bookings in Israel and Egypt, the outlook for the summer is strong with early bookings building well and second half revenue per seat well ahead year-on-year. Meanwhile, Easyjet Holidays continues to expect greater than 35% customer growth in 2024. Its strong balance sheet allowed Easyjet to pay off a €500m Eurobond which matured last October.
