The shares bounced off lows after specialty chemicals group, Elementis, announced revenues and operating profit up 5% and 8%, respectively, to US$822m and US$133m.Last year was transformational with management betting the farm on the US$500m acquisition of Mondo Minerals, a producer of industrial talc additives, funded by a rights issue and debt. Mondo could be a jewel; although only owned for two months it grew pro forma profit 26% to US$20.8m in FY’18 while integration has gone well with US$2m synergies identified.
