Notwithstanding “a slower than anticipated economic backdrop†Elementis still produced a strong Q3 update, sending the shares towards the top of their range. Speciality products, which makes additives to enhance the look, feel and stability of industrial coatings, improved 15% in Q3 or 8% excluding acquisitions, with growth of 12% in the US, 11% in Asia Pacific and 68% in Latin America, helped by the Watercryl acquisition. Even in recession haunted Europe turnover still rose 3%. Within personal care, sales rose 16% while the oil & gas business recovered from the destocking seen in late 2012.
