Elementis has warned that a weak second quarter means it will miss full year forecasts. While its chromium division is still trading in line, the bugbears were in its speciality products side. These included a 30% lower than expected oil drilling activity in the US, reduced demand for coatings additives in China due to destocking and the withdrawal of certain personal care products in Latin America after adverse FX moves impacted the profitability of importing them.Jefferies has reduced eps forecasts by 7% to 23 cents for 2015 and by 10% to 24 cents for 2016.The shares, which had previously hit a high of 324p, have now fallen to 249p, compared with our recommendation price of 247p.
