Results from Specialty chemicals group, Elementis were a touch ahead of forecast, helping the shares nudge higher. Pretax profit rose 2% to US$136m and eps 6% to 23 cents, but the big story was the 23% jump in net cash to US$54m in spite of spending US$55m to fund an acquisition and special dividend. Another special dividend of 5.86 cents was declared, bringing the total to almost 14 cents. The specialty products side, which makes additives to enhance the look, feel and stability of industrial coatings, grew profit 10% to US$99.1m.
