When the US banned all forms of online gaming back in 2006, it blew a massive hole in the betting industry. However, there has since been a gradual thawing with five states, including New Jersey (population: 8.9m) and Pennsylvania (12.8m), now allowing residents to play games such as blackjack and roulette within state lines. Five others, including Michigan (10m) and New York (19.9m), are said to be close to following suit. There’s clearly a fortune to be made here while it’s also significant that New Jersey recently won a supreme court ruling against a long-term ban on sports betting.
