When the US banned all forms of online gaming back in 2006, it blew a massive hole in the betting industry. However there has since been a gradual thawing with five states, including New Jersey (population: 8.9m) and Pennsylvania (12.8m), now allowing residents to play games such as roulette and blackjack within state lines. Michigan (10m) is expected to legalise later this year while four others, including New York (19.9m), are in the pipeline.Up until recently sports betting was outlawed but many states argued that it was outside the constitutional amendment, which had prohibited gambling but then, rather dramatically, in June ‘18 New Jersey won a supreme court ruling against this, paving the way for other states to host on ...
