Just two months after I made Hollywood Bowl a main write-up the shares raced away to a new high of 285p after it said trading for the six months ending March would beat expectations. It said like-for-like sales growth versus 2019 was 26.8% with absolute growth 36.3% and four of its top five record months were achieved in H1 ’22. Net cash increased to £49.6m.Three refurbishments were completed in the period with at least three more planned in H2 while new centres opened in Birmingham (Hollywood Bowl) and Harrow (Puttstars).Management have taken actions to mitigate cost inflation including simplifying food menus and hedging energy costs to end 2024.
