Despite the weather (Beast from the East, followed by long hot summer) making it a challenging year, ten-pin bowling operator Hollywood Bowl has delivered strong final results with pretax profit rising 13.4% (3% ahead of consensus expectations) on sales that rose 6% to £120.5m.Net debt fell 69% to just £2.5m while the shares were also cheered by a 4.3p special dividend, alongside a 4.2p ordinary final, which took the full year pay-out to 10.6p.Growth came through a 1.8% rise in like-for-like sales and tight cost control. The introduction of a dynamic pricing system helped increase average spend per game by 6.1%, while the re-branding of all 11 former Bowlplex sites also boosted sales.
