In our last update on telecoms and energy re-seller Telecom Plus (TMI August ’18; 1127p) we noted there “could be upside to forecasts if the energy price cap on standard variable tariffs works out as expected….because it is likely to lower the gap between SVT and teaser tariffs (for new customers) and thus discourage existing customers from switching to a competitor.”Since then the shares have soared a chunky 350p as investors have piled in ahead of the price cap while interim results for the six months ended 30th September showed an improvement in customer numbers although pretax profit and eps grew a modest 1.2% and 3.5% to £26.0m and 26.9p, respectively.
