The elephant in the room for Somero is, of course, rising interest rates in the US, its largest market and their effect on demand for its suite of concrete screed levelling products, which are used in large new warehouses. These have enjoyed a boom from the likes of Amazon requiring more places to store their goods (and process customer returns) in order to service the e-commerce boom. Encouragingly, there’s no signs of slowing down with interim results showing sales up 6.4% to US$68.5m, albeit EBITDA fell 1.7% due to additional recruitment of operational and support staff.
