Somero, which I featured last time as a New Year Nap for 2021, provides laser guided machines for the non-residential construction sector to automate the process of spreading and levelling volumes of concrete for commercial flooring. Applications range from retail / shopping malls to warehouses, manufacturing plants, petrol stations, car parks, schools and universities. Armed with a battery of 78 patents, Somero has both invented and virtually cornered this market (its share is 99%!), with its products enabling customers to lay concrete faster, use less manpower and most importantly ensure they are flat so warehouse lift-trucks can work at top speed. That dominance helped it double in size between FY’13-’18 with sales rising 108% to US$9 ...
