Shares in Moonpig, the online retailer of greetings cars and other gifts, have enjoyed a spectacular debut after listing on 5th February at 350p, in a placing that raised £20m gross new money and allowed its VC backers, which include Exponent and LCP, to sell £471m, although they retain 47.4%. Helped by people staying at home in the pandemic, sales ballooned from £87.9m in the year to April ’18 to £173.1m in ’20 while in just the six months ended 31st October ’20 they soared 133% to almost £156m.
